Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman stressed on Friday that the Kingdom’s National Day is an occasion to recall the establishment of Saudi Arabia by its founder, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman, “who, with his men, united this blessed land and consolidated its security and stability.”
“We are inspired by their heroics and sacrifices to forge ahead with our wise leadership in achieving its vision for our future,” he added.
Friday marks Saudi Arabia’s 92nd National Day that was adopted by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz on January 27 earlier this year.
He set February 22 as Founding Day, which marks the day when the Saudi state was formed by Imam Mohammed bin Saud in 1727. Imam Mohammed named Diriyah as its capital.
National Day marks the date when the country was unified by King Abdulaziz. He named it the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with Riyadh as its capital, on September 23, 1932.
