KFC has changed up its loyalty scheme - and now getting a freebie is all down to luck.
The fried chicken chain left fans furious when it decided to ditch stamp rewards back in July.
The old loyalty programme saw customers accumulate free food based on how many stamps they received.
For every three stamps, you could get any side dish - like hot wings or small popcorn chicken.
If you had seven stamps got you a free snack, while 11 stamps got you £5 off your next order.
You could earn one stamp by spending over £3, or two when spending over £15.
KFC has now confirmed its stamps scheme has been replaced by the new Rewards Arcade, which dishes out instant win prizes.
Each time a customer makes a purchase, they can play to win free food in the KFC app.
The prizes on offer include:
- 2 single wings
- Regular fries
- BBQ dipped bites
- Mini fillet
- Flamin' wrap
- Fillet Burger
- Zinger burger
- Regular popcorn
- 6 piece original recipe bargain bucket
- 2 pieces of original recipe chicken
- 3 piece boneless chicken with dip
- Mighty bucket for one
The prize values range from £1.19 for two wings, up to £7.49 for the mighty bucket for one - although the exact costs will vary between regions.
KFC hasn't said what the chances of winning each menu item are.
So while you could strike lucky and win an item worth over £5, you may also end up with nothing at all.
A KFC spokesperson said: "Accumulating stamps through our old rewards scheme could take a long time, so with the new KFC Rewards Arcade, fans will be able to benefit more often... and instantly.
"No need to wait, your free item will be available straight away!"
You need to download the KFC app - which is free to do - to use the Rewards Arcade loyalty scheme.
You must then spend at least £3 in store, via the app or when getting a takeaway - or £7 if you're ordering for home delivery.
If you're ordering food for delivery through Just Eat or Deliveroo, you won't be eligible at all.
Once you've purchased your food, you'll get an invite to play in the app.
If you strike lucky and win, you'll have 40 days to claim your freebie.
You can only redeem one freebie at a time, but there's no limit on the number of freebies you can have in your account at any one time.
Unlike the old scheme, you won’t be gifted with rewards for signing up to the app.
Meanwhile, in some KFC locations across the country you'll be able to hunt down "colonel coins" to win more prizes.
Some of the prizes on offer include free food, a £50 voucher or even a year's supply of KFC.
The extra prizes will be up for grabs at the following KFC chain locations between September 9 to 11:
- Brighton
- Bournemouth
- Weston-Super-Mare
- Llandudno
- Portsmouth
- Southend-on-Sea
- Scarborough
- Paignton
- Margate
- Blackpool
- Great Yarmouth
