Keylor Navas ‘didn’t accept’ PSG situation ahead of shock Nottingham Forest transfer

Paris Saint-Germain boss Christophe Galtier has praised Keylor Navas’s conduct ahead of his shock move to Nottingham Forest.

With Dean Henderson injured, the Reds moved for the serial Champions League winner before the end of the transfer deadline, with the 36-year-old arriving on an initial loan deal until the end of the season.

Navas has taken little time to endear himself to Forest fans, making a series of key saves during Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Leeds United. With Henderson still sidelined, the Navas can expect plenty more game time over the next few weeks.

The Costa Rican has played more than 100 times for PSG but has barely figured this season, with Italy keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma being preferred as Galtier’s regular number one.

This week, Galtier took time to praise Navas’s conduct during his time on the sidelines while giving more details about his exit.

“Keylor behaved very well during the first six months,” said in his press conference ahead of PSG’s French Cup clash at Marseille tonight (Wednesday).

“He wanted to play, was focused on the World Cup. He wanted to leave because he wanted to play, he is a passionate of the game. Obviously he didn’t accept the situation, but the behaviour of both [Navas and Donnarumma] was exemplary.

“There were no problems between the two, nor with the three and four [other keepers].”
