Plans have been submitted to demolish part of a former Mansfield nightclub to make way for a large Wetherspoon beer garden. Plans were approved last year to demolish the rear parts of the former QI nightclub in Leeming Street to make way for the combined facilities for the Stag and Pheasant and Widow Frost pubs.
However, a planning application submitted to Mansfield District Council on September 30 confirms that it will just be the Stag and Pheasant involved in the plans. It is proposed to demolish the rear part of QI, retaining a single storey section, with the cleared area then creating a beer garden and conservatory with glazed doors, giving access to the garden for the Stag & Pheasant.
The proposed scheme has the potential for 16 seats within the proposed conservatory and 160 seats in the beer garden which could be used for drinking and dining, including a heated covered area. A planning statement laid out the intentions of applicants JD Wetherspoon PLC.
