A 693-bed student halls complex set to be developed as part of the Island Quarter is to be run by Fresh, it has been announced. The student accommodation provider will operate the purpose-built scheme on the 36-acre site.
Set to welcome students at the start of the 2024/25 academic year, Fresh will run the site which includes multi-media lounges, co-working spaces and quiet areas for study and relaxation.
The operator currently runs the Radford Mill accommodation which ranges from £135 to £255 a week. Fresh also has 70 halls across the UK including Birmingham, Leeds, Edinburgh and Belfast.

Designed by DAY Architectural, the new scheme will be up to 12 stories tall and feature blocks dedicated to a range of accommodation types including studios and cluster living. Amenities for the students include high-level sky lounges that offer projected views across the city and a pavilion with an outlook on to a private courtyard space that will provide the opportunity for working, socialising, dining and exercising.
The designs were approved by Nottingham City Council in September 2021. With Nottingham facing an expected shortfall of 7,000 student beds in the coming years, this latest phase of The Island Quarter intends to free up family homes currently used by students and help return them to their intended use.

The 36-acre Island Quarter site will be totally transformed to bring new homes, grade A office space, creative spaces, a lifestyle hotel, PRS apartments and co-working space, retail units, a ‘linear’ park and vibrant community and event space as well as student accommodation to the city.
The development is a vital part of the regeneration of Nottingham’s Southside and the developers are working closely with Nottingham City Council to align with its vision for the city.
