Key month ahead for Larne on and off the pitch

January looks set to be a significant month for Larne on and off the pitch.

The Invermen are looking to keep the heat on at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership with key games against Glentoran this afternoon and Crusaders next Saturday.

Sandwiched in between the league games is the County Antrim Shield final against Linfield on Tuesday night as they look to land the first piece of silverware this season and Tiernan Lynch says his squad is relishing the big games which lie ahead.

"That's why we're here," he told Larne TV.

"These are the games when no motivation is required, they are the ones the players really look forward to.

"Playing big games with big crowds is why we do what we do."

Off the pitch Tiernan Lynch has been busy in the transfer market bringing in Micheál Glynn, Joe Thomson, BJ Banda and Jamie Pardington.

The Inver Park boss is pleased with the recruitment work done by the club so far in January, which also saw Ben Doherty and Andy Scott move on from Larne to Derry City and Coleraine respectively.

"It's been a busy couple of months," he said.

"We've been working really hard on the recruitment so that when the window did open we were able to get our business done nice and early.

"We want to get the boys integrated because we have a busy January so we didn't want to leave things until the end of the month.

"We've got it done nice and early, and in my opinion we've got some great players in the door.

"We have an ethos that we want to bring the average age of the squad down.

"I think they're great additions, obviously it will take a bit of time for them to fit into what we do and how we do it."
