A shortage of a key ingredient for a variety of McDonald's burgers has seen 'rationing' at some branches. The fast-food chain has been hit by a shortage of tomatoes.
This has affected people ordering the Big Tasty and the Big Tasty with Bacon, Birmingham Live reports. These burgers are being served with just one slice of tomato rather than the usual two.
A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We are currently experiencing a shortage in our supply of tomatoes. As a result, the Big Tasty and the Big Tasty with Bacon are being served with one slice of tomato rather than two.
"We apologise for any inconvenience, and thank our customers for their patience."
The Big Tasty only launched earlier this month and is only available for a limited time at participating restaurants. And once all stocks have gone, they are gone.
Burger fans are urged to remember that the last special McDonald's burger, the Chicken Big Mac, ran out after just one week. If you want a Big Tasty, better move fast.
The Big Tasty BBQ has an RRP of £6.89 for a medium meal, £5.39 for a single burger. Costs will vary depending on the branch, however. It's made with 100 per cent British and Irish beef topped with two slices of Emmental cheese, bacon, lettuce, crispy onions and Big Tasty BBQ sauce inside a sesame seed bun.
