College football and the NFL never rests these days. The news cycle is constant for both college football and the NFL. What dates should Georgia football fans keep in mind ahead of the 2024 season?
About a dozen Georgia Bulldogs are hoping to be selected in the 2024 NFL draft. They will do their best to impress NFL draft scouts over the next couple months ahead of April’s NFL draft.
The Georgia football team is starting spring practice soon. The Bulldogs are looking to return to the College Football Playoff. Georgia returns a veteran roster and are the way-too-early preseason No. 1.
Here are key offseason dates to know for the Georgia football:
The Senior Bowl: Feb. 3 at 1:00 p.m. ET
The Senior Bowl will be played in Mobile, Alabama. The Senior Bowl is one of the premier predraft events. Six Georgia Bulldogs have accepted Senior Bowl invitations.
Super Bowl 58: Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET (all times noted are ET)
There are over 30 Georgia Bulldogs in the 2024 NFL postseason. Almost certainly a few Bulldogs will be facing off against each other in the Super Bowl, which is played in Las Vegas, Nevada.
NFL combine: Feb. 27-March 4
The 2024 NFL scouting combine will be held in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. 11 Georgia Bulldogs declared for the NFL draft. 13 former Dawgs have a shot to be drafted.
March 11: NFL free agency begins
Former Georgia Bulldogs Leonard Floyd and D’Andre Swift highlight Dawgs in the NFL that are scheduled to become free agents. Players can negotiate to sign with teams starting on March 11. Players can’t officially sign until March 13 at 4 p.m. ET. NFL teams have a lot of money to throw at free agents this offseason.
March: Georgia's pro day (TBA)
Georgia will have one of the most popular pro days in the country. The Dawgs have had 25 players selected over the past two drafts. How many Georgia players will be selected in the 2024 NFL draft?
Georgia’s pro day will be a key event for any former Dawg who was not invited to the combine. Dozens of NFL coaches, scouts, and general managers will attend the event.
March-April: Spring practice (TBA)
Georgia’s spring practice is expected to take place from March-April.
Spring game: TBA (likely April)
The 2023 Georgia spring game was on April 15 at 4:00 p.m. ET. We would project that the spring game will be April 14 or April 21 in 2024. We lean toward the April 14 date because the transfer portal opens April 15.
Spring transfer portal opens: April 15-30
The transfer portal opens again in the spring for 15 days. Georgia will undoubtedly have some players looking for new homes after spring practice.
2024 NFL draft: April 25-27
The 2024 NFL draft will be held in Detroit, Michigan from April 25-27. Numerous Bulldogs will be selected in the draft. Georgia has had 25 players drafted over the past two NFL drafts.
SEC media days: July 15-18
The 2024 SEC media days will be hosted at the Omni hotel in downtown Dallas, Texas. The SEC will have 16 teams beginning in July 2024. Divisions will no longer exist within the conference for football. The teams with the two best records will meet in the SEC championship game. Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC in 2024, so that is why the SEC is hosting media days in Dallas.
Aug. 31: Georgia plays Clemson in season opener
Georgia finally opens the 2024 college football season in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The Bulldogs face a tough ACC opponent in Clemson.
