Kevin Spacey is set to make a comeback in the upcoming psychological thriller 'The Contract,' directed by Massimo Paolucci. The film, shot in Rome, features Spacey in the role of a character named 'The Devil.' Alongside Spacey, the cast includes Eric Roberts and Vincent Spano, as confirmed by Italian production company TM Entertainment.
'The Contract' is described as having a storyline reminiscent of acclaimed films like 'Angel Heart' and 'The Devil's Advocate.' Spacey's involvement in the project marks a significant return to the big screen after facing allegations of sexual misconduct in 2017.
Despite the controversies surrounding him, Spacey has recently been cleared of liability in a lawsuit and found not guilty in a sexual assault trial. His upcoming film, 'Peter Five Eight,' in which he stars alongside Rebecca de Mornay, is set for limited release in the U.S. on March 22.
In 'The Contract,' Spacey portrays a character with shades of iconic roles played by Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in 'Devil's Advocate' and 'Angel Heart,' respectively. Producers Caroletti and Lazzarini revealed that they pursued Spacey for eight months to secure his involvement in the project.
Director Massimo Paolucci, known for his previous works such as 'All in One Day' and 'Medium,' brings his unique vision to 'The Contract.' Spacey's return to acting includes roles in Italian indie productions like 'The Man Who Drew God' and 'Control.'
