Kevin Pietersen offers his services to England after Rob Key appointed as new chief

Kevin Pietersen has offered to "help England 's young batters in some capacity" following Rob Key 's appointment as Managing Director of England Men's cricket.

Key has replaced Sir Andrew Strauss, who stepped in on an interim basis after Ashley Giles left the role following the Ashes. And after Key's appointment was officially announced, Pietersen tweeted: "I hereby confirm my application to help England's young batters in some capacity!"

The 41-year-old has previously touted Key as the "perfect" person to "reset English cricket". Pietersen described Key as "a very smart operator" with a "very good cricketing brain", telling Betway : "They are looking for a Managing Director to reset English cricket, and I think that Rob Key, who has been linked with the role, would be perfect for it.
