Kevin Nisbet's Hibs season is in doubt as the club awaits the scan results on his injury.
The striker was forced off after just 26 minuutes at the weekend following a challenge from Celtic defender Carl Starfelt during in Sunday's 0-0 Premiership draw at Easter Road.
Nisbet left the ground on crutches and wearing a protective boot with the Hibees fearing he could be out of action for some time.
He's a major doubt for Scotland 's World Cup play-off semi-final against Ukraine if it goes ahead, although scan results were expected today.
It's thought Nisbet could be facing a tough road back with ligament damage spelling months on the sidelines.
His boss Shaun Maloney, who had to face up to knee injuries in his own playing career, revealed their wait for results as he expressed really worry for his main man.
He said: "It doesn’t look too promising for Kevin. It’s his left knee.
"It wasn’t the worst tackle ever, but when you try and stop a counter-attack like that, it’s not great.
"With these things you have to wait for the scans, but it doesn’t look too great at the moment."
Christian Doidge took over from Nisbet in leading the line against the Hoops.
The Welsh hitman is likely to continue in the same role on Wednesday as the Hibees travel to take on bottom club Dundee at Dens Park.
James Scott and Elias Melkersen are the other options through the middle for Maloney as he looks to plug the goal gap in his forward line.
