Kevin Durant stars for Suns, Memphis on the board

Kevin Durant has recorded his first 40-point game since joining Phoenix to help the Suns beat the Detroit Pistons 120-106 and snap a three-game losing streak.

With 41 points, Durant piloted the under-manned Suns past the Pistons on the road on Monday (AEDT) to become the first man to reach 200 points this NBA season.

He has posted 30 or more in three of seven games this season.

"(Durant), like the rest of us, is tired of losing," Suns coach Frank Vogel said.

"It's not fun losing one in a row, definitely not three in a row.

"He really imposed his will."

Without Devin Booker (calf) and Bradley Beal (back), the Suns led at every change in Detroit.

Durant had 18 points in the third quarter to give the Suns a 12-point lead at three-quarter time on their way to a third win from seven games.

The Memphis Grizzlies became the final team to record their first win of the season when they parlayed a late 26-2 run into a 12-point win over Portland.

The Grizzlies had fallen by two points to the Trail Blazers on Saturday (AEDT) and looked set for another defeat when their hosts led by 12 in the last quarter.

But the Blazers imploded in the face of some steely Memphis defence and shot with only 20 per cent accuracy for the last period.

They landed their final basket of the game with more than five minutes to play.

Desmond Bane had 13 fourth-quarter points, only one fewer than the entire Portland team, to finish with a game-high 30 and eight rebounds.

The Grizzlies, missing Ja Morant (suspension) and Steven Adams (knee) long-term, improved to 1-6.

The Toronto Raptors erased a 22-point deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs in overtime on the road.

Toronto's Scottie Barnes stepped back from three and tied the game at 108 with 37 seconds remaining but missed a long-range two pointer in the final second that could have stolen the game.

Top draft pick Victor Wembanyama (20 points, four assists) had four of San Antonio's six points in overtime to go with a career-high five blocks.

But from Pascal Siakam's three-pointer in the first minute after regulation, the Raptors led for the whole of overtime to record a 123-116 win.

The Dallas Mavericks bounced back from their first loss of the season by edging past the Charlotte Hornets 124-118.

Hornets guard LaMelo Ball scored 23 of his 30 points in fourth quarter and had 13 assists.

But his efforts down the stretch could not prevent Charlotte coughing up a lead that was as big as 15 points in the first half.

Luka Doncic had a rare scoreless first quarter but made up for it late and finished with a team-high 23 points to go with 12 rebounds.
