Kevin Durant Expected to Debut for Suns on March 1, per Report

Newly acquired Suns forward Kevin Durant is expected to make his Phoenix debut on March 1 against the Hornets in Charlotte, sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Durant was traded from the Nets on Feb. 9 just ahead of the NBA trade deadline. However, Durant hasn’t played since Jan. 8 when he suffered an MCL sprain during a game against the Heat.

The two-time NBA champion missed participating in the All-Star Game despite reports saying he could potentially return in time for the Feb. 19 game.

A March 1 debut would mean Durant will miss this week’s Suns games against the Thunder on Friday and Bucks on Sunday. The Suns (32-28) currently sit in fifth place in the Western Conference.

Before his recent injury absence, Durant averaged 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 55.9% from the field in 39 games this season with Brooklyn.
