Kevin Durant discusses close relationship with Warriors fans

Kevin Durant enjoyed a successful spell with the Golden State Warriors. The All-NBA forward won two championships during his time in the Bay Area before moving to the Brooklyn Nets. Throughout his tenure with Golden State, Durant enjoyed a good relationship with the fanbase, and most remained supportive after he decided to head to the Eastern Conference.

During a recent media availability, Durant discussed his relationship with the Warriors fans. The question comes as the Phoenix Suns prepare for their season opener against Golden State. Both teams head into the new season with the goal of winning a championship.

“Some incredible moments there. We have built a bond that don’t really have to be spoken about… I feel like they’ve been supporting me well before I came there, actually. And then once I became part of the Warriors, they just went even harder in support of me, myself and my teammates. Every player individually felt what it was like to play for the Golden State Warriors.”

Durant spent three seasons with the Warriors. He played in 208 regular-season games, averaging 25.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game, shooting 52.4% from the field and 38.4% from three-point range. The veteran forward has struggled to replicate the success he had during his time with Golden State.

The Suns have been busy during the offseason, as have the Warriors. The season opener between the two teams will be a fun contest. However, regardless of the result, the game won’t teach us much about either team. It’s too early in the season for that.
