Kevin de Bruyne forces Pep Guardiola into rare admission over Man City's "incredible talent"

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made a rare admission over "incredible talent" Kevin de Bruyne.

De Bruyne, the club's longest-serving player, has now been at City for seven years. The midfielder joined the Blues from Wolfsburg in 2015 and has been instrumental to the club's recent success.

The 31-year-old has provided three assists and scored one goal during his four league appearances so far this Premier League season as the Belgian looks to improve on his own personal record. During the 2021/22 campaign, De Bruyne scored 15 goals in the league, his highest return in England so far.

His sumptuous outside of the right-foot finish against Bournemouth displayed the midfielder's goalscoring abilities as he opened his account for the new season. It is hard to always find the superlatives for De Bruyne's performances – something that his manager is all too aware of.

Guardiola recently praised the midfielder during his press conference ahead of City's game against Forest, and unusually admitted that he does not have all the words to describe De Bruyne. Having managed some of the top players in world football, it takes a lot to leave Guardiola speechless – but that appears to be exactly what De Bruyne manages to do.

Guardiola said: "It was a really good signing for City. Seven years is many, many years, he has done brilliant since then.

"Before here, he was in Germany, I saw him when he was in Wolfsburg when I was at Bayern. I am delighted with how he has performed in this time.

"If you switch on the TV you see how he plays. You can define Kevin perfectly for the way he plays. It is not necessary to talk about his incredible talent, his work ethic, his commitment to the club and his mates.

"He is a vice-captain. There are no doubts about that. These type of players are too good you have to watch it, words are not necessary. How is Kevin? Watch the game and you will discover it."
