Kevin Campbell names Everton player who will save club from Premier League relegation

Everton hero Kevin Campbell reckons Dominic Calvert-Lewin will save the club from relegation as long as he remains fit and available for the Premier League run-in.

Calvert-Lewin has struggled with injuries for the last two seasons. However, the England striker has managed to impress upon his return to the first-team in recent games.

Back fit at just the right time, the 26-year-old played against Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Leicester City - before really stepping up his performance level in the Brighton demolition. Calvert-Lewin did not score in the 5-1 win, yet his impact over 90 minutes was pivotal.

He supplied a first-minute assist for midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure (2) to set the Toffees on their way at the Amex Stadium as Dwight McNeil also helped himself to two goals. It was a jaw-dropping display from Everton, spear-headed by Calvert-Lewin and his attacking team-mates.

Speaking about him on radio station talkSPORT, footballer turned pundit Campbell said: "Clinical doesn't really come in the same sentence as Everton, usually, but they were fantastic. It was a really good game-plan as they stuck to it and they executed it to blow Brighton away.

"There were still great defensive performances and [Jordan] Pickford was good in goal, but attacking wise...

"Dominic Calvert-Lewin didn't even get on the scoresheet and he played well. As a striker, he was crazy.

"When there are five in midfield and one up top, you've got so much work to do. You've got to be really fit to do that job; to win balls in the air, you've got to hold it up and challenge on the shoulder and also try to get in behind. I thought he led the line expertly.

"He's going to be key. If he stays fit until the end of the season, Everton will stay up."
