Kerry Katona has made a sad admission about looking in the mirror after revealing her fitness overhaul. The former Atomic Kitten star revealed last month that she has embarked on a new diet and fitness regime after being diagnosed with a health condition.
Mother-of-five Kerry was told she has Lipoedema, an abnormal build-up of fat in the legs and sometimes arms. The condition, which is more common in women, can be painful and affect daily life, according to the NHS. But Kerry hasn't let the diagnosis hold her back and has been committed to working out and sharing it on Instagram.
During one, she jokingly issued a 'warning' to her fans as she found herself stripping off during her sweaty session. The 42-year-old filmed herself working up a sweat in just a black bra and matching knickers. She captioned the post: "WARNING Avert your eyes in now Yes that’s right no f@@king filters!! I know it’s not a pretty sight but it’s real!!!"
Despite her positive attitude on social media, Kerry has opened up about her agony at feeling "sick" when looking at herself in the mirror. She is taking part in a new TV experiment on E4 where celebrities attend nude therapy classes in the extreme show called The Big Celebrity Detox.
During the new programme, the celebrities are set numerous tasks including stripping off and meditating while looking at their bodies. And Kerry has now branded her legs "tree trunks" as she admitted that she regrets having surgery as recently as two years ago and she should have recovered properly.
Speaking to New magazine, Kerry said: "Even now, I look in the mirror and feel sick. I had surgery two years ago and went straight into work. I should never have done it and its f***ed my body up. My legs are like tree trunks - they're so swollen, so sore. So it's about learning to accept your body changing."
She jokingly added: "I'm like a flat pack from IKEA, I've been sliced and diced that much. I need instructions!" She also said that moving back up north after living in and around London during the early parts of her music and TV career has taken its toll on her body after falling out of routine with her workouts.
Kerry said: "I lived down south for 12 years, and I had my routine. I'm struggling with learning to love myself again, growing older and my body changing."
It comes after Kerry confirmed she signed up to E4's testing new show in order to build up her confidence and to shed herself of a "mental blockage" she had found herself in. The star also admitted that some of the tasks on the show were less than pleasant - including one which saw her drink her own urine.
Speaking about the bizarre health treatment her column with New magazine, Kerry called the moment "unsexy" as she said: "My skin felt nice when I put it on my face, but it isn’t the same unless it’s in a sexy way."
