Kerry Katona admits crude comment at BRIT Awards was 'worst moment' of her career

Kerry Katona reckons her crude joke at the BRIT Awards in 2004 was the 'worst moment' of her career.

The mum-of-five, 41, was asked to present an award at the star-studded ceremony shortly after being crowned Queen of the Jungle on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

Taking to the stage in a short black and white frock Kerry prepared to announce who'd bagged the Best British Male gong.

However looking more than a little nervous, she blurted out: "You all look so clean and smell lovely. I just farted. Anyway, the winner is..."

The former face of Iceland was reminded of the gaffe on social media yesterday after a fan posted a clip of the episode with the caption: "Iconic behaviour from Kezz Katona back int' day."

Kerry replied: "The worse moment in my career including that This Morning interview! No wonder I've never been invited back!"

Writing in her column for new! last year she said: "I haven't watched the Brit Awards in years, but seeing all the pictures reminded me of the time I was asked to present an award.

"It was just after I won the Jungle and I awkwardly said on stage that I was so nervous that I'd just farted. They never asked me back after that!"

Of course it's not the first time Kerry's TV appearance caused commotion.

In an interview 14 years ago, Kerry appeared to be slurring her words on This Morning prompting hosts Phil Schofield and Fern Britton to ask questions about the singer's drink and drug addiction.

The uncomfortable scenes put Kerry in the middle of a media storm, but she had an explanation for her appearance.

Speaking on Marnie’s Home Truths podcast last year she said: "That was pure bipolar medication. Coke doesn’t make you slur. I was never a really big drinker if I’m brutally honest. It was always the drugs for me.

"I’ve got no reason to lie that that wasn’t drugs – if it was, why would I say it wasn’t? It was pure bipolar medication."

After the show aired, Kerry refused to go on This Morning for 10 years, but insisted she feels no ill will toward the programme or its hosts.

She said: "I think we’ve all learnt a lot with regards to mental health. A hell of a lot," but then added: "but even up until last year, that interview stuck with me."
