KOCHI: When Raja Ravi Varma Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Visual Arts was set up by the state government under the University of Kerala at Mavelikkara in Alappuzha in 2010, authorities had great plans to transform the centre into a leading national institute that offers quality education and postgraduate courses in visual arts.
However, even after a decade of its launch, the centre has not made any improvements or achievements and struggles to even attract students to the only two courses it offers – master of visual arts in art history and painting. Moreover, the centre struggles to find faculty too, and at present, there are no teachers.
