KOCHI: With CPM putting an age bar for leaders, there are chances for new faces getting a berth in the state committee and the state secretariat. Many of the central committee members also may relinquish state committee membership so that more new faces can be accommodated in the forum.
Vaikom Viswan and MC Josephine, who are central committee members of the party, may be exempted from the state committee. While Anathalavattom Anandan and KJ Thomas may be exempted from both state committee and state secretariat. MM Mani may be dropped from the state secretariat. S Rajendran from Idukki, who was a state committee member, is under suspension for one year after an inquiry panel found that he tried to defeat party candidate A Raja from Devikulam constituency in 2021 assembly elections. “New faces will replace old generation leaders. The party has already taken a decision in this regard,” said sources within the party.
DYFI All-India president AA Rahim, DYFI state president S Satheesh and state secretary VK Sanoj, Ernakulam district secretariat member PR Muraleedharan, SFI state secretary Sachin Dev, the party Malappuram district secretariat member PK Sainaba and Ernakulam district secretariat member Pushpa Das are likely to find a berth in the state committee. State committee members CN Mohanan, P Sreeramakrishnan, PK Sujatha, TN Seema, P Jayarajan, and Saji Cheriyan may be the new faces in the state secretariat. “The list will be finalized in consultation with chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other politburo members,” sources said.
As of now, there are 88 members in the state committee. Besides, there are eight special invitees. In the state secretariat, there are sixteen members.
