T'PURAM: KSEB CMD B Ashok said on Friday that the board was trying its best to tide over the current power crisis. "KSEB has decided to buy 250MW power at the rate of up to Rs 20/unit to meet the sudden slump in availability. This would cost the board around Rs 150 crore in additional expense. Present crisis may be over by April 30," he said.
Ashok said minor power restrictions would be lifted on Saturday and the management plan (agreed upon for the time being) is to manage the demand without resorting to major restrictions. The CMD said power shortage, induced by coal shortage, is likely to continue till October and hence KSEB was trying to make alternative arrangements to scale up power generation from domestic power plants and buy additional power from the power exchange.
