Kerala: Gulf-returnee shuts hardware business in Kannur due to CITU's protest

KOZHIKODE: An NRI-returnee, who had set up a hardware business six months ago in Kannur, was forced to close down the firm for the past one week following the ongoing protest by CITU amid alleged threats to customers by the CPM-affiliated trade union.

Rabeeh Mohammed, a partner of SR Associates at Mathamangalam, said operating the firm has become difficult as customers are being threatened by CITU men who are staging an indefinite agitation by putting up a shed in front of the shop from December. Eramam Kuttur, where Mathamangalam is located, is a CPM stronghold.
