KOZHIKODE: A notice issued by Mayyil police in Kannur to a mosque committee directing that the religious sermon delivered after the Friday prayers should not contain remarks that could destroy communal harmony sparked a controversy, following which the station house officer has been transferred.
The signed notice, issued by Mayyil SHO Biju Prakash T V to the secretary of juma masjid, said the directive came in the wake of a special situation in the country following the alleged derogatory remarks made against Prophet Mohammed. It also warned legal action against those concerned if police received information of any violation in this regard.
