Every life matters - human or animal. A video showing Kerala Fire and Rescue officers saving a wild peacock after it suffered an electric shock is now going viral on social media, and for good reason. The clip has left many people emotional, with viewers calling the officers’ quick action a true example of compassion.
The video, shared by Malayalam news channel Reporter Live on Instagram, shows Fire and Rescue personnel from Palakkad bringing the injured peacock to their station after it was electrocuted on the road.
In the clip, the officers are seen acting fast. They gently place the peacock on a table and begin first aid. One officer gives instructions while the others carefully perform chest compressions. At one point, an officer even attempts CPR by blowing air into the bird’s beak. They also give it a few drops of water. Slowly, their efforts seem to work, and the peacock begins to respond.
According to updates shared later, the bird was then handed over to the animal rescue team for further care and treatment. Thankfully, it survived.
As the video made the rounds online, people flooded the comments section with praise for the officers.
“Showing kindness to other living beings is the truest form of humanity,” wrote one user.

“The real heroes in khaki,” commented another.
As actor Joaquin Phoenix once said, “It takes nothing away from a human to be kind to an animal.”
In this case, a few minutes of care and presence of mind saved a life - a reminder that compassion, even in small moments, can make all the difference.
