KOCHI: It's not just Gokulam Kerala FC who find themselves in hot waters as they are unable to compete in the AFC Women's Club Championship in Uzbekistan, FIFA's suspension of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has taken another victim from the Kerala in the form of Kerala Blasters FC.
Last season's Indian Super League runners-up have had a spanner thrown in the works of their pre-season trip to the United Arab Emirates where they were supposed to play three friendly matches as part of the preparations for the new domestic season.
"Due to the current ban by FIFA on the AIFF, our three pre-season matches are cancelled. The team will continue to train in Dubai for the time being and alternative arrangements have already been made," Blasters said in a statement late on Wednesday.
"The club is ensuring that the players have the adequate exposure and facilities to have the team match ready for the upcoming ISL season," the Kochi outfit added.
Blasters had arrived in Dubai earlier in the day and were slated to face Al-Nasr SC at the Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai on Saturday before facing Dibba FC on August 25 and Hatta Club on August 28.
