The public is being invited to weigh in on Kentucky’s foster care system. A series of virtual town halls are being held throughout the commonwealth where people can talk about what needs to be done to make the system better.
Cletus Poat is the state chair of Kentucky’s Citizen Foster Care Review Boards. He said it is also a way for people to get answers if they’re confused about how the system works.
“Those are to hear the concerns or questions or general observations of the public regarding the foster care system and the family court system.”
Poat said these meetings help them make decisions down the road.
“Part of Family Juvenile Services’ staff, they compile the findings from these forums and our volunteers review these in drafting our annual legislative recommendations.”
Following today’s meeting on Western Kentucky counties, another meeting will be held Friday and will focus on counties in central and eastern Kentucky. Registration information is available from the Kentucky Citizen Foster Care Review Board.
