Kentucky, along with six other states, is working to advance a hydrogen market, supply chain, and workforce development in the Midwest region.
Governor Beshear joins governors from Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin as part of the Midwest Hydrogen Coalition. The idea is to develop a hydrogen market to foster new industries, jobs, promote energy resilience, and reduce pollution.
Hydrogen can be produced through fossil, renewable, and nuclear resources. Officials say the energy density and energy carrying capacity of hydrogen make it a cleaner fuel option for transportation, aviation, and industrial uses.
Governor Beshear said Kentucky is well suited for this involvement with its freight and pipeline network, and underground storage areas. The Commonwealth is situated at the center of a 34-state distribution area.
