The Kentucky Derby favourite who was scratched by vets hours before the race reportedly failed a drug test that has still to be adjudicated.
Forte, who was withdrawn because of concerns about a bruised right front foot, was the top fancy for America’s biggest horse race due to his record of six wins from seven starts, including at the Breeders’ Cup and the Florida Derby.
Yet, according to a report by the New York Times, the colt failed a post-race drug test after his victory in the Group 1 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga last September and has continued to race since.
