Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos have been slated with scathing "empty jerseys" criticism in the wake of the 3-2 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead.
The Ibrox duo were slammed as "miles off it" by former Celtic winger Kris Commons after the Parkhead club moved 12 points clear at the top of the table.
Both players have their contracts coming to an end in the summer with the option to discuss pre-contract moves away from Ibrox.
But Commons reckons on recent form neither of the players should even be offered a new deal and instead are "living off their former glories".
In his Daily Mail column, Commons said: "If Rangers fans needed any further proof, this was confirmation that Morelos is now a shadow of the player he was a couple of years ago.
"He was absolutely miles off it and so was Ryan Kent.
"These are two guys who are supposed to be Rangers' biggest attacking threats, but they were empty jerseys again on Saturday.
"Morelos and Kent are living off former glories. They are not offering any value to this Rangers team with their performances on the pitch.
"With their contracts set to expire in the summer, neither of them are doing anything that would warrant an extension.
"The only reason you would have to offer them a new deal is the fact you don't want to see two of your supposed best players leaving on a free.
"There was a time a couple of years ago when Morelos and Kent were being jointly valued at around £30million.
"To see both of them walk out the door on a free would just typify some of the poor decisions being made behind the scenes at Rangers.
"But that's a different argument, one based on finance. If you look at it purely from a footballing point of view, neither Morelos nor Kent actually deserve a new deal. They've been rotten for months."
A report last week claimed Morelos is certain to leave the club in the summer.
Speaking on the BBC, reporter Kenny Macintyre said: "Morelos, I'm told, he's gone. The manager doesn't see him as part of the plans.
"It's difficult for the manager to speak about at the moment, I know that."
