Kenny Miller says he wants to be Falkirk manager beyond the end of the season after taking the reins from Martin Rennie.
The former Scotland striker joined the Bairns as assistant manager back in December, linking up with Rennie for the second time after playing under him at Vancouver Whitecaps.
However Rennie's homecoming at Falkirk was far from a happy one as he failed to secure a playoff spot in League One.
Last week it was confirmed that Rennie will return to the US at the end of the season, but Falkirk announced he will step back into an advisory role until then - with his No.2 taking the reins in the interim.
It's an unusual step, and former Rangers and Celtic hitman Miller is hoping to use it as an audition for the top job.
Miller, who led Falkirk to a 3-1 win over East Fife at the weekend, said: “It's something that Martin has discussed with me over the last couple of weeks and there is a reason I agreed to come in and help.
“I believe there is so much potential at this football club, it’s in a position it shouldn’t be and I feel I could help build the club back to where it belongs.
“It’s an opportunity to show the people that matter that I am capable of doing that, obviously Martin will still be here to help out and will be about to be a sounding board.
“It’s a good opportunity and it’s one that I’m thriving on, it’s an opportunity to take over.”
Miller's only previous managerial experience was with Livingston in a short-lived player-manager stint.
But he got off to a good start at Falkirk with a double from Callumn Morrison and a stunner from his former Ibrox teammate Charlie Telfer sealing the win at Methill.
“It’s always nice to win games of football," Miller added. "We scored three good goals, it was good to end that losing run.
“I’ve loved it, I had a busy week. It’s a good chance to put a stamp on the team, not a lot will change. It’s about keeping the boys fresh and enjoying their daily work.”
