Kenny Miller in Celtic 'better than Rangers' admission but Ibrox hero predicts Champions League turnaround

Reluctant Kenny Miller admits Celtic have looked better than Rangers in the early stages of the season. But he reckons Gio van Bronckhorst 's team can kick-start their campaign by turning things around against Union SG on Tuesday night.

Both Glasgow sides have 100 per cent records after the opening two Premiership games with Rangers dismissing Kilmarnock at the weekend thanks to goals from Antonio Colak and Alfredo Morelos. Celtic meanwhile fought off Ross County, with Jota and Moritz Jenz striking late to seal a crucial 3-1 win.

Ange Postecoglou's team have their noses in front at this early stage in the title race with just one goal in it between the Glasgow rivals - who don't face off until they meet at Parkhead on Matchday Six. Miller admits it's the defending champions who have looked better so far, but has tipped Gers to improve as the season wears on.

He said on BBC Sportscene: "Celtic have started playing a bit better, they look really excited going forward. Rangers have been more dogged, but they've been getting results which is the important thing. Performances will improve as the weeks pass. Players will get to know each other and getting players back fit, like Morelos, will make a difference.

"It was pleasing to see both strikers scoring. Colak getting his first goal and Alfredo coming off the bench after a long injury and getting off the mark for the season. Particularly with this game on Tuesday night, I imagine Colak will play so it's important that he's off the mark. But Celtic and Rangers, I can't see either of them dropping too many points before that derby on September 3."

The big black mark against the early part of Rangers' season was their dreary 2-0 defeat against Union SG in Belgium. They have it all to do at Ibrox on Tuesday to turn it around and keep their Champions League dream alive but Miller believes they have it in them.

He went on: "I think they can (turn it round), but they need to improve on the performances from the opening weeks. I think the crowd will play a huge part."
