Kenny Dalglish bristles over Celtic exit for Ange Postecoglou but Premier League clubs told they'd be 'stupid' not to ask

Kenny Dalglish says Premier League clubs looking for a new manager would be "stupid" not to sound Ange Postecoglou out.

But the Celtic and Liverpool legend has serious doubts over whether he would walk away from winning trophies at Parkhead. Postecoglou has been linked with numerous jobs as he continues his rebuild in Glasgow's east end with both Leeds and Everton mooted as serious options for the Australian. Crystal Palace are looking for a new manager while Spurs are likely to be soon and given the job he has done in almost two years at the Hoops, his name is likely to be up there in the betting.

But Postecoglou has reassured Celtic fans he has no desire to leave a job half done and remains focused on delivering a second successive league title for now with a Treble also on the cards if they can win the Scottish Cup. And while Sir Kenny reckons top flight clubs in England should be knocking on the door, he's warned them they may not get the answer they expect.

He said: "They'd be stupid not to ask him, but as someone said, it's manners to wait until you're asked. Even if he was asked, I don't know if he would go.

"Are you trying to say that Celtic isn't as big an adventure as some of the clubs that were allegedly interested in him? Why would he go down to the Premier League to get relegated, or to one of the teams threatened with relegation He'd rather be at Celtic looking to win trophies. But it always comes up, when you're doing well, there's always someone else interested. And so they should be."

Kenny Dalglish was promoting Viaplay’s live and exclusive coverage of Scotland v Cyprus and Scotland v Spain. Viaplay is available to stream from viaplay.com or via your TV provider on Sky, Virgin TV and Amazon Prime as an add-on subscription.
