Inbound Kennedy Expressway lanes to fully reopen as first phase of three-year construction project comes to a close

A reopening of the inbound Kennedy Expressway is expected to begin Thursday and continue through Tuesday, when the entire expressway will fully reopen after months of repairs to patch the surface and revamp bridges. (Pat Nabong/Sun-Times)

Motorists weary of crawling for six months through construction on the Kennedy can expect relief in the coming days.

After almost nine months, the entire Kennedy Expressway will fully reopen by Tuesday, according to a news release from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
