Kendall Jenner settles 'copycat liquor' lawsuit as company suing her 'dismisses case'

Kendall Jenner's 'copycat liquor' lawsuit has reached a settlement after booze brand Tequila 512 sued The Kardashians star over her 818 Tequila company.

The model, 27, was being sued by owners of Tequila 512 who claimed that her 818 brand was far too similar to theirs.

The '512' in their branding refers to the area code for Austin, Texas and the 818 in Kendall's company name refers to San Fernando Valley, where her famous family are from.

It was claimed that the two businesses had similar colour schemes on their bottle branding and almost identical label layouts.

512 owners also claimed that Kendall's sister Kim Kardashian was allegedly using an image of a bottle similar to theirs in her Hollywood app, despite promoting Kendall's brand.

Mirror has contacted Kim's representatives for comment.

But now, according to TMZ, both companies have 'settled their beef' and they will continue to carry the somewhat similar brand names – with Kendall's brand and 512 agreeing "they will each have the right to use their existing names and they will both make changes to their labels to clarify that they are not related to each other".

A spokesperson for Tequila 512 told The Mirror: "We’re excited to have this litigation behind us so we can continue focusing on growing tequila 512 which we believe dollar for dollar is the best quality tequila on the market today."

According to TMZ, 512 owners are going to 'add Est. 2012' to their label and both companies will make it clear that they are not connected.

Nick Matzorkis, CEO of Tequila 512, told the outlet: "Tequila 512's lawsuit against 818 Tequila has been resolved.

"The parties have agreed that they will each have the right to use their existing names and they will both make changes to their labels to clarify that they are not related to each other."

"Tequila 512 has dismissed its case," they explained.

The Mirror has contacted Kendall's reps for a comment.

It comes after Kendall celebrated her 27th birthday on Thursday and was treated to a lovely note by big sis Khloe Kardashian on Instagram.

The reality TV star, 38, took to social media to wish her sibling a happy birthday with the help of a series of sweet throwback snaps.

The Good American co-founder wrote: "To my very first baby, happy birthday.

"@kendalljenner you are the one who stole my heart and you made me fall in love in more ways than I even knew possible.

"You are the one who taught me responsibility, patience, unconditional love and compassion.

"You are one of the most gentle and pure people I have ever known. You feel deeply. You give your all to the ones you love."

Continuing her lengthy post, Khloe touched on her sister's "silliest personality" and praised her for breaking down barriers.
