Kendall Jenner Just Changed How We See Chintz — and It’s Surprisingly Affordable to Copy

Kendall Jenner at the Met Gala.

Florals, for some of us, are a constant in the home, whether it's through live flowers as decor in vases or printed cushions, wallpapers, and sofas.

When it comes to the latter, we are taking cues from Kendall Jenner, whose designer, Heidi Caillier, shared an elegant snap of the model's cozy living area, where a floral couch reigns supreme.

The cream and blue, chintz sofa adds a vintage-inspired pattern to the farmhouse-esque space, with its white-painted walls, wood panels, and nature-themed gallery wall. It's the proof we need to confidently state that the traditional print is back.

Design experts explain that chintz decor has been a mainstay in the home since the 1600s, making it one of the most historied and enduring trends you can possibly experiment with today.

'Chintz and florals have been a recurring trend throughout the years, dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries,' says Paulina Wojas, interior designer at Stunning Chairs. 'These charmingly patterned designs were ubiquitous in the '80s, serving as prominent themes in home decor. Although the whimsical design was swapped with a more minimal aesthetic in recent decades, chintz is now making a comeback.'

Paulina explains that a statement piece like a sofa is an excellent option, but smaller accessories can be just as impactful.

'While the main characteristics of chintz remain the same, this year will see a modern spin on the traditional style,' she says. 'Vibrant patterns will still be used for an eclectic aesthetic but with a contemporary feel. This ensures the design brings nostalgia and warmth into homes without looking old-fashioned or outdated. Due to the intricate pattern of this ornate design, it doesn't require much of it to achieve a bold aesthetic. This vibrant style works well for an eclectic setting or can be complemented by softer tones and clean lines, allowing it to become the room’s focal point.'

To recreate the look, this chintz sofa from The Inside is a pretty close replica of Kendall's, while those of us who want to go for a more muted approach would be served well by this linen pillow cover from McGee & Co.
