Ken Bruce is said to be in talks to turn his iconic PopMaster quiz into a TV show.
The former Radio 2 DJ, 72, relaunched the segment - in which listeners show off their musical knowledge - on his Greatest Hits Radio show on Monday.
The quiz was one of the most listened to programmes on Radio 2 when it launched in 1998 and now Ken and PopMaster's co-creator Phil Swern are said to be bringing it back to a bigger audience.
The pair are reportedly in talks with a 'major broadcaster', with Phil saying: "We're in discussions as we speak with a television network that is interested in PopMaster as a TV quiz. Watch this space."
He continued: "One of the conditions of the TV format is that Ken would be the presenter."
Speaking about the future of the quiz to the the i, Ken added: "I'm very excited to see where PopMaster can go next and there are a lot of opportunities out there."
Since Ken's departure from Radio 2 in what has been billed as a 'blood bath' at the Beeb, the broadcaster has aired a music quiz called Ten To The Top in PopMaster’s former 10:30am slot.
However, it's been dismissed as a ‘Poundland PopMaster’ by fans who have spotted the similarities between the two quizzes, notably because two contestants are asked 10 questions about popular music.
Ahead of his appearance today at his new gig on Greatest Hits Radio, Ken teased what listeners can expect to hear from his show, which runs from 10am to 1pm.
He said: "What better way to celebrate my forty-five years in radio than with a new adventure and a brand-new show on Greatest Hits Radio.
"I say brand new but there will still be PopMaster, me and my musings and all the great records you know and love from the 70s, 80s and 90s."
Today the star said his first Greatest Hits Radio show felt 'odd' as he started the programme with a classic Beatles track, Come Together.
Speaking to BBC Breakfast, Ken explained: "It’s a fresh start, it is something a little bit different in a new place, that is always good for somebody to try something a little bit new, so there I am ready to go."
