Kemar Roofe in Rangers record reminder as hat-trick hero insists 'I've proved myself already'

Kemar Roofe reckons he has nothing to prove after he bagged his first Rangers hat-trick in the 4-0 rout of St Mirren.

The former Leeds striker scored three goals from just four chances in the match to see Gio van Bronckhorst's men bounce back from two consecutive defeats against Celtic and Braga.

And he told Sky Sports he doesn't see himself as the Light Blues' second striker after being a regular contributor over the past two years.

Roofe scored 18 goals from 36 appearances in all competitions during Rangers Premiership winning season last time out and has 12 goals already this season despite limited starting opportunities.

"I think I've proved it already. Regardless of today or the last games", said Roofe.

"I've been here for nearly two years and I feel like I've proved myself already."

Roofe converted two headers at the start and end of the first half in a morale-boosting day for the Jamaican striker.

Then he blasted home from a loose ball to complete his hat-trick five minutes after the interval.

Rangers close the gap to six points again in the Premiership title race and now face a huge Europa League quarter final second leg clash with Braga on Thursday.

Roofe knows nothing but a win will be acceptable as they attempt to turn around a one goal deficit.

He added: "Again it's a must win. We need to build on it and we need to win at all costs."
