Kelsey Parker has credited singer Ed Sheeran for being a huge support to her late husband Tom Parker before his tragic death in March 2022.
Tom, who was a part of The Wanted, sadly passed away after a long battle with terminal brain cancer glioblastoma at the age of 33.
Throughout his battle, Tom had remained positive that he could live his life to the fullest while still here - as did his friend and fellow music star Ed, 32, who ultimately helped Tom pay for his private medical treatment amid his cancer battle.
In Tom's posthumously released autobiography, Hope: My Inspirational Life, the I'm Glad You Came hit-maker revealed that Ed had helped to pay for his medical treatment after being diagnosed with the inoperable brain tumour in October 2020.
In his inspiring autobiography, Tom penned: “I’ve never publicly said this before (and he’ll probably be mad that I’m doing it now), but Ed is a very special man. He even helped out with my medical bills when I was seeking other treatment options and having private immunotherapy.
“He didn’t need to do any of that, but my wife Kelsey and I are so grateful to him for his support. It meant the world.
“Overnight, my entire world turned upside down and I was forced to re-evaluate the value of life itself. I was absolutely petrified - I couldn’t stop thinking about death.”
Following the death of her beloved husband, Kelsey has now publicly thanked Ed for his kindness and generosity throughout the darkest time her family has ever been in.
Gushing over the Galway Girl hit-maker while speaking to to Ashley Cain on the MTV series Faces, Kelsey said that without Ed's help during the tough time, the family were granted with some peace and support at a time when they were in dire need of it.
"Ed is just an incredible person and what he did when we needed him, I will forever be thankful for. And I know Tom will forever be thankful for everything Ed did for us," she gushed.
“Ed is looked after by Kev, his security guard, who was also Tom’s security. The love for Kev will forever hold them together.”
Kelsey also credited her 'village' of family and friends with getting her through the dark times since Tom's death last year.
Back in March 2022, Kelsey was the one to break the news that her beloved husband had sadly passed away at the age of 33.
At the time, Kelsey wrote on Instagram : ”It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family by his side. Our hearts are broken.
”Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.
”We are truly thankful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children.
”Thank you to everyone who has supported in his care throughout, he fought until the very end. I’m forever proud of you.”
Tom was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour while his wife Kelsey was pregnant with their second child.
