Kelsea Ballerini creates a French country-style kitchen with this rustic accessory – it's a celebrity-favored method that's replicable in every home

Kelsea Ballerini.

It's not every day you can pick up simple accessory tricks from Kelsea Ballerini and Jennifer Lopez – but this is the case with rustic wicker baskets, as seen in both their kitchens. It's easy to understand their attraction to French Country style – an aesthetic that brings a sense of coziness, warmth, and Southern European-inspired beauty to even the most modern of homes.

In many cases, getting the French country look can feel overwhelming –involving new cabinets, flooring, or even a new kitchen island. However, with wicker baskets, Ballerini (and JLo) have found a more accessible way to tap into the look, and their look translates to every style of kitchen.

In her white country kitchen (below), Ballerini exhibits a wicker basket (much like this one, designed by Studio McGee for Target) above her refrigerator. Despite being categorized as an 'accessory,' the wicker tones bring an instant French Country-inspired aesthetic to the room – working beautifully against the wooden open shelves, rustic stone vases, and indoor plants overhanging onto her appliances.

As mentioned, Ballerini is not the only celeb who we have seen experimenting with this idea. We've also spotted a collection of wicker baskets (this time, filled with lavender) in Jennifer Lopez's kitchen – best seen in a reel she shared on her Instagram here. The singer opted to hang her baskets high above her marble countertops – introducing a rustic element to her otherwise wholly modern space.

Plus, celebrity endorsements aside, we can rest assured that a French Country aesthetic is shaping kitchen trends for 2025. Al Bruce, the founder of Olive & Barr, explains that incorporating accessories (such as wicker baskets) is one of the simplest (and most beautiful) ways to tap into the look.

'Those looking to add a little country charm to an existing kitchen can add texture and tone through natural materials such as wooden worktops, chopping boards and wicker accessories, while textiles such as linen add softness and lend themselves very well to this aesthetic,' Bruce says.

Alternatively, Valspar's paint and interior specialist Sarah Lloyd recommends taking things further with wicker furniture that further emphasises the look.

'Wooden furniture – whether it be antique or rattan - is a guaranteed trend to hit the interior’s scene,' she comments. 'Accentuate rooms with wicker or oak furniture to create a rustic feel, with fresh pine tables and chairs to compliment a modern kitchen.'
