Dublin Olympic hero Kellie Harrington has announced to fans that she has written an autobiography with acclaimed Irish author Roddy Doyle.
The champion boxer who hails from Dublin's north inner city revealed that she is "super excited" and told her Twitter followers that she hopes they "enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it".
A blurb of the book describes Katie's journey to boxing rather than "going down the wrong path in life".
Teasing what the book is expected to explore in Katie's life, the description reads: "Her local boxing club was all-male and initially wouldn't let her join, but she persisted.
"Kellie won the hearts of the Irish public through her sparkling personality."
At the age of 18, Kellie went into the army and dreamed of being a soldier, but decided to leave after four months to pursue other things.
With the title yet to be announced, the book promises tell the story of her sometimes troubled childhood, her unlikely rise to greatness and her continuing commitment to living a normal life which involves her remaining an amateur boxer and keeping her job as a cleaner in a psychiatric hospital.
Penguin Books Ireland took to social media to celebrate the news, saying that they are "thrilled" to be publishing the book.
It will be released on October 5, 2022.
Kellie became a national sporting hero in the summer of 2021 when she brought home an Olympic gold medal.
The star recently confirmed her engagement to her long-term girlfriend Mandy Loughlin and took to Instagram to reveal that she found wedding planning to a stressful undertaking.
The pair have been together for 13 years after they first met in a boxing club in Bray.
