Keir Starmer Net Worth

According to a report in Times of India, as of 2025, Keir Starmer, has an estimated net worth ranging between £7 million and £15 million. This wealth stems from his extensive legal career, political roles, and strategic property investments.

Keir Starmer Career Earnings, and Property Assets Explained

Keir Starmer has built his financial profile through a long career spanning law and politics, with earnings drawn from senior legal roles, parliamentary positions, consultancy work, and property investments.

During his time as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) from 2008 to 2013, Starmer reportedly earned an annual salary of around £200,000, marking one of the highest-paid phases of his legal career.

Political career

After entering politics, he became a Member of Parliament in 2015, later taking on the role of Leader of the Opposition, where combined earnings were reported at approximately £76,961 as an MP and £49,193 as opposition leader in 2021–22.

Following his appointment as Prime Minister in 2024, his reported salary rose to about £160,000 per year, reflecting the standard compensation for the UK’s top office.

Investments and assets

Beyond salaries, Starmer’s wealth has also been shaped by assets and additional income streams. He owns a family home in Kentish Town, North London, purchased in 2004 for around £600,000 and now estimated to be worth about £1.8 million. He also holds seven acres of land in Surrey, acquired in 1996, which has been reported to be worth up to £10 million.

In addition to property holdings, Starmer has earned income through legal consultancy work, including more than £21,000 in legal services during 2020–21. He also declared over £85,000 in capital gains from the sale of a jointly owned property with his sister. His public service pension from his DPP tenure is estimated to be worth around £700,000.

Why did Keir Starmer resign?

Keir Starmer faced early criticism over welfare cuts, tax hikes, and political scandals during his first months in office. He also faced backlash over winter fuel payment changes and tax increases announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves. AFP reported that his government also dealt with controversy over gift declarations and the sacking of Peter Mandelson after links to Jeffrey Epstein resurfaced.

He also faced rising pressure from Reform UK on immigration, cabinet resignations over defence spending, and strained relations with US President Donald Trump amid policy disagreements and diplomatic tensions.

He was also facing a challenge from Andy Burnham, whose thumping victory in a special election in Makerfield on Friday cleared the path for him to challenge the Prime Minister. Several Labour Party MPs believe that Burnham is the right candidate to take on Farage in the 2029 general elections.
