"Kefka is the ultimate troll": Final Fantasy 14's top raiders are being hoodwinked by a returning JRPG icon proving to be the most annoying Ultimate boss yet

Final Fantasy 14 Kefka.

Final Fantasy 14's most hardcore players have spent the last day or so grappling with patch 7.51 and its newly introduced Kefka-themed Ultimate raid – a raid that takes everything folks know about the MMO's mechanics and throws it into the wind.

In case you weren't around for Stormblood and its Sigmascape line of Savage raids (or Final Fantasy 6, from where the boss originates), Kefka terrorized Final Fantasy 14 fans with his chaotic mechanics and confusing puzzles for quite some time back in 2018 with patch 4.2.

Now, he's back for more clownin' around in the Dancing Mad Ultimate – a fight that fans are amusingly dubbing UMAD thanks to the sheer amount of trolling Kefka does.

The top raiding groups around the globe are currently competing to take down the mad mage, with Chinese static NO CCHH currently in the lead as per FFLogs – although the leaderboard is constantly changing right now as players progress through the fight.

It seems that many of them, however, hit a wall at the end of the second phase… when Kefka tricks them into thinking they've finished the entire fight with a fake chest and "Complete" cutscene.

As one clip over on X shows it as it played out live, Kefka "dies" while in his godlike form, with a small cutscene playing that reads "Complete" – not the game's usual "Duty Complete" message, notably. Then, a massive chest spawns beside the instance exit as it would upon a real completion… only to *poof* and vanish once opened.

The only option a group is left with is to leave and restart the entire fight after trying the chest.

Honestly, it's absolutely hilarious, and it seems to be what fans see should they not resolve all of Kefka's mechanics properly… which, you know, isn't exactly easy to tell, seeing as the whole raid is topsy-turvy when it comes to debuffs and whatnot. Viewers are loving it, though (myself included), judging by the chatter online.

One person comments that it's "absolute cinema," while another chimes in, 'This is the greatest fight ever!"

Others make jokes about the whole "UMAD" title given to the fight – one that, if it had followed the usual acronym standards, would actually be known as "DMU."

As one fan says, "This is why UMAD has to be the name." Agreed – "Kefka is the ultimate troll," after all. He's managing to trick the most elite Final Fantasy 14 players, spurring the greatest memes I think I've ever seen from the community during a world's first race.

My static will be taking Kefka on, too, soon, and honestly… I'm not so sure how I feel about it anymore. Nonetheless, I'll be sure to prepare my Warrior of Light with a clown nose and plenty of Swiftcast saving for quick resurrections.

Final Fantasy 14 legend spends 3 years soloing the MMO's Free Trial in the worst way possible, and now the finish line is in sight after suffering Shadowbringers' last big boss for 3 days straight
