Keeping up with the Markles: A timeline of the Duchess's troubled relationship with her father

Thomas Markle was the man of the moment back in 2018, dominating headlines, news channels, and royal headspace. But as soon as the mania around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding cooled down, he slipped out of the spotlight and into the back of the public’s hive mind.

Over the past week, unfortunate circumstances have brought him into the spotlight once more. Thomas Markle has been “fighting for his life” in the intensive care unit of a hospital in the Philippines, according to his son (and Meghan’s paternal half-brother), Thomas Markle Jr. According to the Mail on Sunday, he was forced to undergo an emergency leg amputation as a result of a serious blood clot.
