Interest in Keanu Baccus is growing after Cardiff City became the latest club to watch the Australian international.
The 24-year-old has scored twice for St Mirren and helped them to a 2-1 win over Dundee United on Saturday to keep them level on points with Aberdeen. Huddersfield Town have previously watched Baccus with Cardiff in attendance to run the rule over him in Paisley over the weekend.
The midfielder is under contract with the Buddies until 2024, but with a number of clubs now taking an interest in him, the club will be braced for January offers, especially if he makes the Socceroos squad for the World Cup in Qatar next month. He made his full international debut in September and is in contention for Graham Arnold’s pool that will head to the Middle East. It would represent a remarkable rise for Baccus, who only joined St Mirren on a free transfer in the summer.
Manager Stephen Robinson picked out Baccus for special praise alongside Curtis Main after their victory over the Tangerines.
He said: "Curtis was excellent. I thought him and Keanu (Baccus) were two of the best players on the pitch. He led the line and hit the bar from 25 yards. I thought him and Jonah were excellent. He scored a perfectly good goal and they were a right handful."
