The visa situation that changes everything
Kazakhstan extended visa-free access to Indian passport holders in 2023, valid for stays of up to 14 days. No e-visa form, no appointment queue at an embassy, no letter of invitation. You land at Almaty International Airport or Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana, show your passport, and you're in. For Indian travellers who have spent years navigating Schengen paperwork or waiting months for a US visa, this is a genuinely different experience. The 14-day window is enough for a well-planned trip covering Almaty, the Charyn Canyon, and the Kolsai Lakes. If you want more time, a 30-day visa on arrival is available at the airport for a fee. The point is that the bureaucratic barrier, the thing that keeps most Indian travellers defaulting to Thailand or Dubai, simply isn't there.
