There is no fanbase quite like that of the Minnesota Vikings.
Year in and year out, this team sucks you in and gets you to believe only to be let down again. It’s like the scene from Arrested Development where Tobias Funke convinces himself that it might work for us.
” Well, did it work for those people?”
“No, it never does. I mean, these people somehow delude themselves into thinking it might, but…but it might work for us.”
That is the epitome of Vikings fans. We believe and believe no matter how many times we get punched in the gut.
After the Vikings have something heartbreaking happen to them, the national media mentions it in some way and Kay Adams said on her podcast that she feels for Vikings fans and rightfully so.
“On the Vikings side, more heartbreak for a fanbase that I’m telling you, I’ve said this and people like to argue who’s the most tortured fanbase. It’s the Vikings.”
She is spot on and goes on to give a long-winded, detailed answer breaking down why but the root is simple. They get us to believe, suck us back in when we know full well the end result and we still get let down.
One day we might learn, but today is not that day.
