In the motorcycle world, Kawasaki has a tendency to zig when other manufacturers zag, often to interesting effect. Take, for example, Japan Mobility Show 2023. As we noted, Kawasaki was the one OEM that didn’t give a preview of what it was bringing ahead of time. Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, and even Toyota (well, in the form of its HySE hydrogen project) gave previews of motorbike and/or motorbike-adjacent items on the docket.
Here’s the thing, though. All those brands we mentioned planned to premiere what were and are mostly concept or reference vehicles—not production vehicles. That, friends, is where Kawasaki zigged.
We can’t tell you what the thought process was, but it seems like maybe Kawasaki played its cards close to its chest because it was planning to unveil real-life production bikes instead of just concepts. Concepts are cool, don’t get us wrong—but they might or might not ever become bikes that we can buy, so they tend to occupy a different place in the hearts of most enthusiasts. They show us what could be, instead of what is.

With all that in mind, Kawasaki pulled the covers off its 2024 Ninja 40th Anniversary lineup at Japan Mobility Show 2023. This bright new livery is taken straight from Team Green’s iconic Ninja ZX-7 racebike from the early 1990s. It features a winning combination of Lime Green, Pearl Crystal White, and Blue, all arranged in different configurations to best fit each Ninja model that this special livery graces.
You’ll find 40th Anniversary Edition versions of the 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR ABS, the 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R ABS, the 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R ABS, and the 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R ABS.
Not content to simply stick to a period-appropriate paint scheme for its 40th Anniversary Ninja tributes, Kawasaki also consulted its archives to find the original drawings so it could appropriately replicate just the right logos on these bikes. The early ‘90s was a long time ago, and like other OEMs, Kawasaki’s logo has changed over time—so it was important to the brand to take a careful look back so it could do the designs justice.
