Katy Perry slammed for flamboyant Coronation outfit as fans say she will 'block view'

Katy Perry was accused of blocking the view of guests sitting behind her after turning up to Westminster Abbey in a flamboyant lilac Coronation outfit.

Her huge hat had Twitter in a twist as the singer was spotted at Westminster Abbey ahead of the ceremony.

The American – an ambassador for King Charles’ charity The British Asian Trust – was invited before she takes to the stage at Windsor Castle on Sunday.

The line-up for the big gig has been slammed and people had sympathy for those in the audience on Saturday as well.

Some said guests would struggle to see what was going on over her massive hat after the I Kissed A Girl singer had trouble knowing where to sit.

Social media was quick to point out that whoever was sat behind the star may have trouble watching the historic ceremony.

One wrote: "Nice hat, but you wouldn’t want to be sat behind Katy Perry in Westminster Abbey. #Coronation ".

Another said: "The poor person sitting behind Katy Perry!"

A third put: "Love young Katy Perry and her entire outfit….but i wouldn’t want to be sitting behind her. I think it’s a headband so perhaps she can easily remove it during the service."

After performing at King Charles' Coronation concert, she will be enjoying a very exclusive stay inside Windsor Castle.

Katy first met the King at an event in Mumbai in 2019, when he was then Prince of Wales and has since become involved in The Princes' Trust, working as an ambassador for The British Asian Trust.

The pop sensation won't be going back to a normal hotel after performing along with the likes of Take That and Lionel Richie, as she's been given a room inside the royal residence.

Even though she's sung around the world at some of the biggest events in history, Katy is buzzing for the concert and "really excited" for her "wild" sleepover at Windsor.

"I'm really excited… I might be posting a lot because I'm gonna be in a castle, for real. This is wild," she told Extra TV.

The 900-year-old castle has around 1,000 rooms in 484,000 square feet of space – and has hosted extravagant events such as Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie's nuptials to Jack Brooksbank.

Promising her fans she would be giving them "what they deserve very soon", Katy claimed her Coronation experience was "very regal" and that the request aligned with "all her values."

"It was very regal, it was like a cursive I have never seen [before]… I loved it," Katy explained.

"I'm an ambassador to one of his foundations for the British Asian Trust, which primarily focuses on ending child trafficking, which is a huge issue of our time that people don't talk enough about, and it just aligned with all my values… He asked me to sing and it all aligned."
