Katy Perry promises to give fans 'what they deserve' in Coronation concert

Katy Perry opened up about how "excited" she is to perform at King Charles’ Coronation and hinted at what fans can expect from her performance.

It was revealed that the American Idol judge would be performing at the historical event and said that she would bring "light and love" to her set, especially after many A-Listers turned down the opportunity to sing for the King's big day.

The King's Coronation, which is reportedly set to cost British taxpayers around £100million, will take place on Saturday, May 6, with American singer Lionel Richie and pop group Take That joining Katy at the Coronation party the following day.

The 38-year-old shared the detail of her Coronation invite, explaining that it was "very regal" and that the request aligned with "all her values."

"It was very regal, it was like a cursive I have never seen [before]… I loved it," Katy boasted. "I’m an ambassador to one of his foundations for the British Asian trust, which primarily focuses on ending child trafficking, which is a huge issue of our time that people don’t talk enough about, and it just aligned with all my values.

"He asked me to sing and it all aligned," she added.

Katy's excitement at her upcoming gig comes after she became the first artist to have seven videos reach a billion streams on Vevo. She told Extra that after the big win she's going to give her fans "what they deserve very soon," hinting at her performance.

"I always dreamt really big and I never put limits on my dreams," she revealed. "But it’s wild when you don’t put bowling bumpers on your dreams how big they can actually go.

"I really believe in making it happen and putting that hard work behind it and really swinging until you get that lucky moment. I’m gonna give [my fans] what they deserve very soon."

Katy has worked as an ambassador for The British Asian Trust, which is one of King Charles' foundations, and was given the opportunity to experience an overnight stay at Windsor Castle.

She said: "I’m really excited… I might be posting a lot because I’m gonna be in a castle, for real. This is wild."
