Come the day, come the hour, Chantelle Cameron had no option but to answer Katie's call.
After all, you don't turn down a shot at an all-time great.
When Taylor's eagerly awaited rematch with Amanda Serrano fell through, the Irishwoman didn't mess around.
She didn't want a gimme for her homecoming as a pro.
She wanted the toughest fight possible. So she called Cameron, the undisputed world light-welterweight champion, out on Instagram, and got the answer she wanted.
Tickets will go on sale for the May 20 date at the 3Arena next week. Most expect them to sell out quickly.
Normally, Taylor's fights are arranged by her manager, Brian Peters, or promoter, Eddie Hearn, so why did she take matters into her own hands?
"Just to make sure it happened. Once we knew Serrano was unavailable, Chantelle was the next best option, I guess,'' she said.
"We wanted the fight for a long time now so we just wanted to put pressure on her, on Eddie and the team to actually make it happen."
The 3Arena isn't Croke Park, of course, but it's still going to be the biggest fight night in Dublin since Bernard Dunne won his world title against Ricardo Cordoba 14 years ago.
The old Point depot was packed on that memorable night in 2009. It's changed name and it will be packed again this time around.
Indeed, the expectation is that there will be a long waiting list for tickets in case of cancellations.
"A few years ago, we were worrying about whether we were going to sell out little York Hall and here we are a few years later, the progress has been incredible,'' said Taylor.
Hearn promotes Cameron as well as Taylor, and he was always convinced this fight would happen at some stage.
"!I think it’s all worked out pretty well considering. We really wanted to go to Croke Park for Serrano, but this fight, for me, is the bigger fight in boxing,'' he said.
"For many years, people have said to me, ‘Katie will never fight Cameron’ and I say, ‘100 per cent she will’. And then as Chantelle became a bigger name, as she became unified and then undisputed champion, I knew it was going to happen.
"I think the 3Arena is perfect but we’re going to have a problem next week when the tickets go on sale because we’re going to have a lot of upset people, I have it all the time when a show sells out."
Cheapest tickets are expected to be in the region of €80 with ringside ones costing four figures, but Hearn wasn't showing his hand yesterday.
"People are just obsessed with going to witness this historic night so we’re going to have a problem next week with demand,'' he said.
"They'll range from very accessible to very expensive. We are, unfortunately, leaving money behind by going to the 3Arena because it holds 8000 v 70,000 at Croke Park. I would like to say this is a one-off but I don’t think it’s the last time Katie will fight in Ireland.''
Everyone who takes on Taylor sees it as a legacy fight.
Take her down and you'll be forever remembered, but it doesn't bother Taylor.
All through her glittering amateur career, she had a target on her back so little has changed since she moved into the paid ranks.
"I definitely know that I'm going to be facing the best opponents, that's for sure, so I obviously have to raise my game with them as well,'' she said.
"But I perform so much better when I am under pressure. I am a pressure fighter. For my whole career, I've been feeling the pressure. This is exactly where I want to be.''
Anyone lucky enough to have been at Dunne v Cordoba in 2009 will remember a pulsating atmosphere.
Taylor v Cameron will hardly be any different. Remember, Taylor's fight with Natasha Jonas at the London Olympics broke the decibel record for those Games.
Her homecoming as a pro will be special, and it's put to her that she'll have to come up with a special ring entrance to mark the occasion.
"I don't think too much about the ring entrance, to be quite honest with you.''
Not going to come out on a Harley Davison like Chris Eubank?
"With Maniac 2000 playing! Ah, it's going to be amazing, the atmosphere is going to be electric. I know that it holds maybe 8 or 9000 people but the atmosphere is going to be very loud.
"I want to put on a real performance every single time I step into the ring so this isn’t any different for me. I prepare for every fight like it's the most important fight of my career. This fight is no different.
"I’m going to step into the ring in the best shape possible. I’m preparing for a very tough fight and hopefully I'll put on a great performance and, please God, I’ll still be the undisputed champion.''
Carl Frampton took to social media to express his admiration for Taylor in taking on such a tough opponent, joking that she'd sell out the 3Arena if she was fighting his granny.
But Taylor is only being true to herself. She has always wanted to pit herself against the best around.
"I definitely could have taken an easier route but that’s not what I am about and I think one thing that has marked my career is that I have taken the toughest fights and the hardest fights,'' she said.
"So I love these sort of challenges and I want to challenge myself against the best out there. I have the chance to become a two-weight undisputed champion. This is a history making fight for me. This is a fight that really motivates me."
